Seamless technology creates garments in a single and continuous knitting process, and hence is better for the environment.

Let’s start with what a seam is. If you’re wearing a t-shirt, you’ll notice that the sleeve is connected to the body of the shirt with stitches. That’s a seam! With that knowledge, seamless sportswear is simply sportswear without seams. The stitches along your regular pair of leggings? Consider it gone with seamless sportswear.
Seamless garments are great for sportswear because it’s more comfy, prevents chafing and allows the wearer more flexibility and mobility. Because of this, seamless tech has moved beyond activewear and can be found in clothing and undergarments too!
No seams?! How does the fabric stick together?
Traditional clothing is made by stitching pieces of fabric together. Seamless clothes, on the other hand, are made with a special cylindrical knit machine. With this warp knitting technology, clothes are weaved from yarn to fabric.

Before the circular weaving process, the design of the clothes have to be programmed into the machine’s computer system so that the needles know exactly where to go to create the seamless garment. The needles also have little cameras in it which makes each weave that much more precise.
That sounds like a lot of work for a piece of clothing, but in reality it actually takes less time to create clothing this way as opposed to traditional means. It’s less labour intensive, more accurate and less wasteful, too. This makes it a more eco-friendly alternative.
Sounds cool, but what’s the point of seamless tech?
A key reason seamless clothing has increased in popularity over the years is because of the longevity of the garments. The term ‘falling apart at the seams’ doesn’t apply here- what seams? As the clothes are in one piece, they are more durable and last longer.
Another plus point is that seamless fitness wear fits better to the body, and allows for better mobility. You don’t have to worry about tearing a hole in your legging seams, or rips from movement. The lack of seams make the garment lightweight, and help it move with your body better. This also means less friction!
